Check out how pressure holds water into this bottle, even when it has holes in it.
Ingredients and equipment that you will need
A 2-litre plastic bottle
Water (with food colouring in if you’d like)
Pin
Method and further information
Make a few small holes with a pin about half way up an empty plastic bottle. Fill the bottle with water and quickly put the top on. If you hold the bottle by the top to avoid squeezing it won’t leak. When you unscrew the lid, water leaks from the holes.
Screw the lid back on and it stops.
Be careful – you should ask an adult to help you with these experiments. Do your experiments in old yoghurt pots, jam jars or bottle tops. Don’t use cups or glasses in case someone thinks it’s a drink.
